Red Storm Warnings

It is the last thing anyone wants. After a couple of very difficult years everyone has a right to want to ‘get back to normal’. Let’s be honest normal has left the building and is never coming back. Get used to it.

Not only that but any thoughts of calm after the storm are also looking like false hope now.

I try to keep these blogs positive but labour shortages, broken supply chains, rising prices, rising wages and inflation are about to batter us. It is going to feel like we are locked in hurricane season all over again.

It will feel unfair to every business owner and leader.

I can’t remember who said that there is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing. There is no such thing as a bad economy, just ill adapted businesses. I am astounded at the number of organisations I deal with who came out of the last 18 months in better shape than they were at the start of 2020. The same will be true for this next set of storms.

As I took my dog on his early Sunday morning walk I saw dozens of trees and branches brought down by storm Arwen and I thought about Darwin and the survival of the fittest. The last 18 months and the next year make storm Arwen look like a breeze.

Many business owners under the age of fifty will never have led businesses through inflationary times, with labour and skill shortages. They will need to learn very fast. Remember what Darwin said “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”

Learn fast my friends.

Inevitably business owners get exhausted and burnt out as they try to grow their business. At Kinnery we grow the business leaders so they can handle growing a business more easily and with less stress. When we grow the business leaders, we take away the things that stop growth so the business results can grow more easily and with less effort, which results in better businesses with happy business owners, staff, customers and suppliers.

To check whether I can help you on that journey

If you are in the North East of England I will be running a live in person event on December 14th to prepare you for the storms of 2022
